At DeTube, we believe your digital habits are your business. Our extension is designed to provide a distraction-free YouTube experience without ever compromising your privacy.

Functionally Silent & Local-Only

1. Zero Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

No email addresses
No browsing history
No usage analytics
No tracking pixels

2. Local-Only Storage

All your preferences and settings are stored locally on your device using your browser's internal storage API (chrome.storage.local).

Data never leaves your computer
Never uploaded to a server
Never shared with third parties

3. No External Server Interaction

DeTube does not communicate with any external servers. The extension operates entirely within the confines of your browser and the YouTube domain.

4. Permission Transparency

DeTube requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:

storage

Used solely to remember your UI preferences so you don't have to re-configure them every time you open YouTube.

scripting

Used to apply the CSS rules that hide the elements you've selected.

tabs

Used to detect when you are on a YouTube page to provide the correct controls in the extension popup.

5. Third-Party Services

DeTube is independent and not affiliated with Google or YouTube. We do not share any data with them, nor do we have access to your account data.

6. Open Source

Because we believe in total transparency, our code is open-source. Anyone can audit the codebase to verify our privacy claims.
